This guide will walk you through the steps needed to create an Apple ID.
Your Apple ID is the account you use to access Apple services like the App Store, Apple Music, iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime and more. An Apple ID is required so that App’s purchased by the school can be pushed to your devices.
- An iPad connected to WiFi
- A valid email address to use as your Apple ID username.
Step 1 - Create New Apple ID
a) Open App Store
b) Along the bottom menu select Top Charts
c) Click GET on one of the Free Apps. Then INSTALL.
[By click a free app you will not have to enter any credit card details later in the process]
d) Click Create New Apple ID
e) Select New Zealand then click Next.
f) Read the terms and conditions or just scroll to the bottom and click Agree.
g) Click the Agree button when prompted.
Step 2- Fill in the form.
a. Make sure you can check the email address that you sign up with. This will be your Apple ID username this can be your school email if you want. Your password also needs to be suitably complex, eight characters long with numbers and uppercase letters.
You don’t need to put a rescue email in but it is always good in case you forget your password to have a backup option.
If you need to, make a note of your answers in case you are locked out of your account one day.Unsubscribe from both tabs and click Next.
Step 3 - Fill out the Billing Information.
a. This is where choosing a free app means you don’t have to enter credit card details. Important fields not to miss are Title,Suburb and Phone Number.
When everything is filled out click Next.
Step 4 - Verifying your Apple ID
a) Click Done
b) Open your email client. There should be a verification email from Apple in your inbox. Click the Verify now link.
c) The link will open a web site. Here you need to type in your newly created Apple ID in the username field , and enter your password and click Continue.
d) You should see a big green tick confirming that your email address has been confirmed. Click Done
e) Congratulations your Apple ID is now created
